In this lecture, we discussed the Knoevenagel condensation reaction.
The Knoevenagel condensation reaction was discovered by organic chemist Emil Knoevenagel. The base catalysed aldol type condensation reaction between a carbonyl compound usually without any α-hydrogen atom and a compound containing active methylene group is called Knoevenagel condensation.
