Named Organic Chemical Reaction-Lecture-9 (Darzen Reaction)

The reaction named after the work of Auguste Georges Darzen.

Darzen is an aldol type condensation reaction between carbonyl compound and α-halo ester containing α-Hydrogen atom in presence of strong base followed by an internal nucleophilic substitution which leads to formation of glycidic ester (α-β-epoxy ester).
