Named Organic Chemical Reaction-Lecture-8 (Elbs-Persulphate Reaction)

In this lecture, we discussed the Elbs-Persulphate Reaction.

In 1983, Karl Elbs discovered the reaction for the formation para-diphenol from phenol and potassium persulphate. The reaction is generally applicable to ortho, meta and para-substituted phenol.

The reaction of phenol with potassium persulphate forms para-diphenol is known as Elbs-Persulphate Reaction.
