Practical:-6 Notes on the Synthesis of Ethyl acetoacetate from ethyl acetate (Organic Chemistry Reaction)

Ethyl acetoacetate having the molecular formula C6H10O3. The molecule having a 6C-aliphatic chain, and ketone and ester group.

In the presence of a sodium ethoxide, ester α-hydrogen of ethyl acetate undergo self-condensation yield Ethyl acetoacetate. This reaction known as Claisen condensation.
