Practical:-9 Notes on the Synthesis of cinnamic acid from benzaldehyde through Perkin reaction. (Organic Chemistry Reaction)

Cinnamic acid is an aromatic organic compound having the molecular formula C9H8O2. The molecule having a benzene ring, carboxylic acid group as well as α,β-unsaturated ethylene group.

The condensation of aldehyde or ketone with acetic anhydride in the presence of sodium or potassium salts to get the Cinnamic acid.
